DESCRIPTION:Positive Birth Group. \nTortie Rye. \n07796 121530 \n\nThe Positive Birth Group\n\nThe Bristol Positive Birth Group is held at the Wild Goose Space monthly. The group is one of hundreds of groups worldwide that offer a space to bring about more positive conversation and engagement in birth. \nMeetings are from 7.30-9.30pm. Group discussion around a topic follows a positive birth story. Tea and biscuits available. Whilst the meeting is free\, we ask for a suggested donation of £2-3 per person to help cover cost of venue hire and refreshments.\nThe group is run by Karen Logan Woods and Tortie Rye\, with support from a variety of other birth professionals. Couples can expect information and tips\, advice\, practical offerings and sharing of ideas.\n\nPositive Birth Movement ManifestoWe are a grass roots movement\, spreading positivity about childbirth via a global network of free Positive Birth groups\, linked up by social media. We believe that every woman deserves a positive birth. We think a positive birth means: \n\nWomen are where they want to be\nChoices are informed by reality not fear\nWomen are listened to and treated with respect and dignity\nMothers are empowered and enriched\nMemories are warm and proud\n\nOur movement exists because\, at a global level\, many women are not currently having a positive birth. We hold the birth experience to be of fundamental importance\, to mothers\, to fathers\, to babies\, to families and to society. \nWe wish to change birth for the better. We aim to: \n·      Challenge the culture of negativity and fear that exists around birth\n·      Share positive birth experiences\n·      Share information about choices and rights in childbirth\n·      Encourage women to raise their expectations of childbirth \nWe will do this by: \n·      Establishing a network of free to attend positive birth groups\n·      Linking all groups together via social media to build a global network of shared expertise\, power and positivity.\n·      Working together to challenge the culture of fear that surrounds birth.\n·      Empowering women to approach birth differently.
